3D Printed Houses

 Future of Construction

We all have seen buildings constructed with concrete and cement, whether it's our home, office, shopping malls, corporate buildings, all are constructed with traditional concrete.  But, did you think about printing our house in 3D rather than constructing it with concrete? You might be thinking that I'm joking or what. but yes it's true. Today it is possible because of the 3D Printing houses technology.

The First 3d Printed House ‘Gaia’ Built With Earth

Houses that are designed and built using construction technologies that use the 3D printing method are known as 3D printed homes. 3D printed homes are faster to build and are superior to the traditionally constructed structures in many ways.3D concrete printing technology is used in the construction of thin-walled wall structures that do not require thermal insulation conditions. The corrugated surface of such wall systems is a facing, has a decorative function on both sides, which increases its value. Feeding materials like concrete, sand, and plastics into a massive 3D printer to print homes is a relatively simple and low-cost construction method.

The process of building a 3D-printed house is not just different but a lot quicker than conventional construction. It is built with a focus on reduced build-time, zero-waste construction, and optimized production. To start with, the structure was printed using a special concrete mix through which large-scale 3D structures were made. The concrete mix is a base of ordinary cement which has a lower water-cement ratio. While concrete is the primary material for typical construction projects as well, the energy consumed to mix and transport it is way more than in 3D printing. Such 3D-printed houses are not just economical but also environment-friendly, as the use of local materials eliminates the need to transport concrete over long distances. This technology can enable deep personalization of construction for the ultimate target segment – who is the individual. 3D printing can ensure that affordable, good-quality housing.

Today many 3D printed housing projects are coming and this technology is grabbing people's attention rapidly. Recently a company name  3D printing company WASP 3D has printed a unique concept store in collaboration with Dior. On Dubai’s Jumeirah beach stands a unique Dior installation composed of two circular modules crafted from natural materials, using an exceptional 3D printing system. The innovative spaces of the Dior pop-up store were crafted from natural materials, combining clay, sand, and raw fibers. Using an exceptional 3D printing system designed by WASP to create 3D printed eco-housing from natural materials: the collaborative printing system Crane WASP(A Infinite 3D printer).

Many countries like India, Russia are already started adopting this latest printing technology. According to the World Economic Forum, by 2030, three billion people will need improved housing. That means building 96,000 new homes every day. 3D printing technology can create high-quality homes in a fraction of the time and cost of traditional construction. This 3D house printing will really be going to change the way of construction in the future.
